2x2 Message Board

The installation is both an anonymous and public message board in the form of a freestanding vertical grid. Viewers write notes on 2” square Post-its, which they then roll up and insert into a hole on either side of the structure.

We also invite viewers to read or take a note. As they scan the grid of colored messages, running their fingers over the notes, and unrolling these conversational moments we imagine that this represents not just metaphor but a material representation of the psychology of information space. The Post-its also offer an opportunity for spying and textual eavesdropping so viewers act as a fly on the wall or a “lurker” in web space.
